Recordings — overview
Recordings are audio plus what came out of it: a transcript, a summary, a split by speaker. The section lives inside the Notes module, under “All recordings”.
What gets captured
Section titled “What gets captured”- Microphone — you and whatever the device hears.
- System audio — what your apps play: the other side of a video call, a video you’re watching.
Each source can be enabled on its own or together. When both are recorded they go on separate channels — which is how you get speakers apart without guessing by voice.
What appears afterwards
Section titled “What appears afterwards”- A transcript — text with timecodes; fragments are clickable and seek the audio.
- A summary — a short digest: what the conversation was about, where it landed.
- Speakers — a separate tab with the split by channel.
- A card — title, date, duration, status, tags, project, links.
Transcription and summarisation aren’t instant: the status is on the card (“pending”, “transcribing”, “transcribed”).
Recordings sort into collections — ordinary folders with their own colour. There’s also a smart collection: instead of filling it by hand you set a filter (search, tags, project, date range) and recordings land in it themselves.
Besides collections, a recording has tags and a project.
Where the files are
Section titled “Where the files are”Audio is saved in your data folder. Audio retention is time-limited: after that the file is removed, while the transcript and summary stay — text takes incomparably less space.
Importing existing audio
Section titled “Importing existing audio”You don’t have to record. Add a file or a link and Yttri will download, decode and transcribe it. If the source has subtitles, they can be used instead of recognition: faster and more accurate.
