Payments in deals

Any project or deal has a Billing block — it isn’t tied to the general Finance module (that one works with your personal spending: bank feeds, receipts, SMS notifications). This is about money a client owes you, and how that plan turns into actual payment reminders.

Five modes, available on both a project and a deal — the mode isn’t tied to the type:

Mode What it counts
None nothing, the block is empty
Fixed the whole contract total
Hourly a rate per hour
Retainer a rate per period (with a period to choose)
Per job per completed task

For everything except “none” you set the currency, the payment delay in days, the start date and the delivery date.

Only for “fixed” billing. A milestone is a stage + an amount (or a share in per cent of the contract — one field with a unit switch) + a due date. For example: “Deposit” — 50%, “Final” — the remaining 50%.

Milestones land in the shared payments calendar alongside ordinary tasks — from there you can see how much is due and when, across every deal at once, not just this one.

A deal with a deposit. Switch billing to “Fixed” → set the contract total and currency → open the milestones editor → add “Deposit” at 50% due a week after the deal closes → add “Final” for the remaining 50% on the delivery date. Once the deposit arrives, mark the milestone paid; you won’t be able to edit it after that.

What the card shows. The Finance panel on the project card shows planned vs actual per currency separately (currencies aren’t added together), the contract total for a project and the deal amount for a deal.

The Finance module parses your personal transactions — bank statements, receipts, payment notification emails. Billing in CRM is a plan for a specific deal that you set yourself. Both eventually land in the same payments calendar, but the sources differ: one reads what already happened, the other reads what a contract says should happen.
