CRM — overview
CRM is a private working layer around your clients: leads, people and companies, projects and deals, tasks. All of it lives under one item in the left menu and is tied together by links — the client of a project, the company of a person, the owner of a deal.
The submenu
Section titled “The submenu”Clicking CRM opens a submenu of three groups:
| Group | Items |
|---|---|
| Clients | Leads · People · Companies · Favourites |
| Sales | Projects · Deals |
| Work | All tasks · Board · My tasks |
The CRM item in the main menu carries a badge: the number of active tasks. The Board item has its own badge — agent tasks waiting for your decision.
One create button for the whole section
Section titled “One create button for the whole section”At the bottom of the submenu there is a split button instead of a separate “Create” on every screen:
- clicking the button itself creates a task. If you are already on All tasks, Board or My tasks, the form opens over the current screen; from any other CRM screen you are taken to All tasks first;
- the chevron opens a menu: new lead, new person, new company, new project. Picking an item switches the screen if needed and opens the form.
Deals are not in that menu: a deal is created from the Deals screen — with “New deal”, with “Add” inside a funnel column, or by switching the type from Project to Deal in the project editor.
Every screen also duplicates creation with its own header button.
The gear icon in the submenu header opens task settings — the statuses screen, which is not one of the listed items.
What is what underneath
Section titled “What is what underneath”Knowing the structure explains the quirks of the interface, so, briefly:
- A lead is a separate entity, independent of contacts. Manual, mail and imported leads exist even with integrations turned off.
- A person and a company are the same “contact” type, told apart by an “is an organisation” flag. That is why Favourites shows people and companies in one list.
- A project and a deal are the same record with a different type. Switching the type in the editor changes a field, it does not move the record to another table.
