Today and AI

The Today screen has no AI of its own. There’s no chat here, no brief, no suggestions — just a greeting, the day’s summary and widgets. There used to be a briefing slider at the top; it was removed, and the screen went back to being what it should be: a display of data.

What here was computed by a model after all

Widgets show ready data from the modules, and some of that data is the result of background analysis:

• important mail and messages needing a reply — that’s Yttri’s own judgement, not the mail service’s flag;
• financial mail in its own widget lands there by an automatically assigned category;
• upcoming payments include obligations, some of which were created automatically from mail and SMS.

So the model works before this screen rather than on it — in Mail and Finance. What arrives here is the result.

Where the helper lives

Everything that isn’t here — the daily brief, suggestions, asking by voice, the event feed — lives in the Assistant: a separate module opened from a button in the status bar, available from any section rather than only from Today.
